Amanda Thomas is a multidisciplinary artist from rural Northern California. She works in the Art Department of the College of the Siskiyous and is currently an undergraduate Art Studio student at the University of California, Davis. Work from her recent series, The Best Choice, has won juror’s awards in the San Francisco Bay International Month of Photography and from Arc Gallery in San Francisco. Thomas is interested in exploring societal measures of value and worth. Fascinated by the devalued and forgotten, Thomas utilizes found objects and garbage in her work. She is currently experimenting with long-expired photographic materials, and considering socioeconomic, environmental, and feminist issues through her practice. Her work resides at an intersection between her personal life and the larger world.
